Cross Docking

Cross docking is a practice in logistics of unloading materials from an incoming trailer and loading these materials directly into outbound trucks, with little or no storage in between. While it’s certainly not a new strategy, a recent survey tells us that cross docking is gaining momentum as manufacturers and retailers look to reduce transportation costs and increase service levels by increasing the speed of product to their customers.
